Harmonic intonation exercise

Harmonic Tuning

Practise tuning your voice inside a harmony rather than against an isolated equal-tempered note.

Choose a dyad or triad context, hear the supporting notes and sing the missing target.

Dyads

Choose an ascending or descending interval and a target note. Intonic creates the drone and evaluates the sung pitch against the harmonic context.

Triads

Choose a chord type and the note you want to sing. The supporting chord is played without that note so you can complete and tune the harmony.

What it trains

Harmonic tuning develops awareness of interval function, chord balance and the small pitch adjustments that make notes settle inside a sonority.
